ALBQUERQUE, NM – A search is underway for a suspect who slammed into an Albuquerque police vehicle and almost hit an officer, reports the Albuquerque Journal.

The incident occurred Sept. 19 at a Motel 6 near Coors Boulevard and Interstate 40. Police were called to the scene after the owner of a stolen pickup truck, a 2007 Ford F-350, said he had tracked it to the motel.

When police arrived they tried to stop the truck, but said the driver fled and went straight toward an officer who was standing near his vehicle in the parking lot. The officer managed to dive out of the way but the driver struck the police cruiser before taking off.

Police said the stolen truck has since been located but the suspect remains at large.
