ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police in Albuquerque say a woman was fatally struck by her own vehicle on Friday afternoon.

In a news release, police said officers responded to a report of a fatal crash at 12805 Hayley Court NE shortly before 1 p.m.  Investigators believe that the woman was trying to exit her vehicle while it was in neutral. The vehicle then started to move backwards, knocked her to the ground and rolled on top of her.

The victim, whose name was not released, was pinned underneath her vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators do not believe speed had anything to do with the crash, but it was not yet clear whether alcohol was a factor.
