ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A two-vehicle wreck claimed the life of one man over the weekend, KOB 4 reports.

A man was driving a 2005 Hyundai on I-40 when he struck the back of a Freightliner truck. The truck had slowed down due to a traffic jam and the Hyundai’s driver failed to reduce his speed.

The wreck happened near the 156-mile marker, according to New Mexico State Police.

Emergency responders pronounced the Hyundai driver deceased at the crash site. He was a 25-year-old from Albuquerque.

The passengers of the Freightliner did not sustain any injuries in the accident.

Authorities report that alcohol was one of the causes of the accident and the Hyundai driver was not wearing seatbelt restraints at the time of the crash.
