News: 3-year-old child killed when driver crashes into apartment in Grants

GRANTS, NM – Police said a driver crashed into an apartment unit in Grants Tuesday morning, killing a child.

According to KRQE, a man driving at high speed lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a unit at the Lobo Canyon Apartments. Four people were in the apartment at the time. One of them, a 3-year-old, died in the accident. Two adults and a 1-year-old child were injured, with one of the adults flown to a hospital in Albuquerque.

The driver was transported to a hospital in Grants, though no details were immediately released on his condition.

Police are investigating the crash. There was no word yet on whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
