SANTA FE COUNTY, FE – Two people were killed when two vehicles collided at an intersection in Santa Fe County Sunday, the Santa Fe New Mexican reports.

The accident happened in the area of New Mexico 599 and Interstate 25 at about 5 p.m. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said 52-year-old Andres Lira-Hernandez was driving a Chevrolet truck when he failed to stop at the intersection and crashed into a 2020 Hyundai.

Two people in the Hyundai, a 39-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, sustained fatal injuries in the wreck. Both were Santa Fe residents whose names have not yet been released.

Lira-Hernandez, an Albuquerque resident, was not injured.  Authorities said there were active warrants for his arrest. He was lodged in the Santa Fe County jail and the sheriff’s office said other charges against him are pending.
