News: 19-year-old dies in single-vehicle crash on New Mexico Highway 28

LA MESA, NM – One teenager died and two others were injured in a single-vehicle car accident near La Mesa Sunday morning.

KVIA reports the incident occurred on New Mexico Highway 28 near mile post 9 at about 6:30 a.m. The driver went off the roadway and crashed into a tree, authorities said.

A passenger, 19-year-old Pedro Delgadillo, was ejected from the vehicle and killed. The 19-year-old driver and a 14-year-old female passenger were taken to an El Paso hospital.

State police indicated drunk driving was a factor in the crash and said the driver may face charges.
