Multiple killed in single-vehicle crash on I-25 near Caballo

SIERRA COUNTY, NM — Several people died Saturday after a crash involving a vehicle that was carrying undocumented migrants on Interstate 25 near south Caballo, reports KOAT.

The fatal collision occurred on a span of I-25 between mile markers 59 and 63.

It remains unclear at this time how many people were in the vehicle at the time, but New Mexico State police said a section of the highway was shut down in both directions during the emergency response.

Authorities have not confirmed the number of people who died or disclosed any information regarding injuries.

No charges have been reported as of this writing.
