Motorcyclist killed in collision with truck tractor in Portales

PORTALES, NM – Police are investigating a collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Portales last week.

According to a release from the Portales Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of U.S. 70 and East Spruce Street on March 31 at about 5:06 p.m.

A motorcycle and a commercial truck tractor with a semi-trailer collided at that location. The motorcyclist died at the scene and was identified as 29-year-old Woodrow Wyatt Nease of Clovis.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Nease had been driving over the posted speed limit prior to the wreck. Traffic at the intersection was diverted for several hours during the on-scene investigation.

Crash affects traffic in both directions on U.S. 70

ROSWELL, NM – Emergency personnel responded to a crash on the Roswell Relief Route (U.S. 70) on Tuesday afternoon.

An advisory on NMRoads at 1:39 p.m. reported that the accident took place at mile marker 331, at the intersection of Country Club Road. Traffic was affected on U.S. 70 northbound and southbound.

Drivers were advised to use caution, reduce speed, and watch for all emergency crews and equipment in the area.

1 injured in accident involving motorcycle on Interstate 25

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – One person was injured in a crash involving a motorcycle in Bernalillo County late Thursday night.

A traffic alert from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office at 10:17 p.m. stated that the incident took place on Interstate 25 northbound at mile marker 214. Serious injuries were reported and a patient was transported, the sheriff’s office said.

The number 1 and number 2 lanes of the interstate were closed while the scene was being cleared.
