Motorcyclist killed in Cibola County hit-and-run incident

CIBOLA COUNTY, NM – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Cibola County involving a hit-and-run driver, according to KRQE.

Authorities were dispatched to Interstate 40 near mile marker 114 in Laguna after the incident happened Feb. 15 at about 11:10 p.m. New Mexico State Police said the operator of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.

The motorcyclist, identified as 52-year-old David Torrez, died at the scene. NMSP said the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Accident causes road closures at 2nd Street and Alameda

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM – A vehicle crash caused road closures in a section of Albuquerque on Friday evening.

In a traffic alert posted at 5:52 p.m., the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the accident at 2nd Street and Alameda.

Southbound 2nd Street at Alameda was closed along with the turn lane onto Alameda and one lane of westbound Alameda. All lanes were reported to be back open at 7:04 p.m.

Fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian incident reported on U.S. 70

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a crash fatality on Friday.

According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, the vehicle vs. pedestrian collision occurred on U.S. 70 West at mile marker 324.

A single westbound lane was reported reopened and 2:45 p.m., and motorists were advised to drive slowly through the area. No details were released on the identity of the victim, or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
