DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — A 20-year-old man was seriously hurt Tuesday morning in a motorcycle accident involving a car near west Las Cruces, according to KFOX14.
The wreck occurred in the area of West Pichaco Avenue and Burke Road, east of La Llorona Park, at around 6:00 a.m.
Las Cruces Police said the young man had been riding a motorcycle westbound on West Pichaco Avenue. As he entered the intersection, he collided with a Nissan sedan that was turning east on the road from Burke Road.
Medics rushed the motorcyclist to a local hospital with multiple injuries. No updates on his condition have been shared at this time, but he was wearing a helmet during the crash.
No other injuries have been reported.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. It was not immediately clear whether any charges are expected to be filed.
Picacho Road between Roadrunner Lane and the Rio Grande bridge was temporarily closed, as well as a section of Burke Road.
Motorists were asked to detour around the area as an investigation was conducted.
