Motorcyclist dies after crashing into vehicle in NE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle in northeast Albuquerque on Friday afternoon, KOAT reports.

The accident occurred in the area of Menaul Boulevard NE and University Boulevard NE at about 12:30 p.m.

An initial investigation by police determined that the driver of a 2014 Jeep was in the left turn lane of westbound Menaul Boulevard and had an unprotected green light while turning onto southbound University Boulevard. The operator of an eastbound BMW motorcycle was in the far-right lane of Menaul Boulevard with a green light and crashed into the rear passenger side of the Jeep at the intersection.

The man riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Jeep driver was not hurt. Police said the speed of the motorcycle appeared to have been a contributing factor in the fatal crash, but there were no signs of impairment on the part of either driver.

Multi-vehicle accident causes lane closure on I-25 south

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A multi-vehicle accident restricted traffic in a section of Albuquerque on Saturday night.

According to a traffic alert from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office at 7:47 p.m., the crash involved five vehicles. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Interstate 25 southbound was reduced to two lanes at Rio Bravo Boulevard Motorists were advised to use caution when traveling through the area.

Vehicle vs. pedestrian fatality reported on Highway 491

BUFFALO SPRINGS, NM – A vehicle vs. pedestrian fatality was reported on Highway 491 in Buffalo Springs on Friday night.

The Navajo Police Department released details of the incident that occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at milepost 30.5. No information was released on the person who was killed.

The northbound lane of the highway was closed while the police department Crownpoint District and Navajo EMS Tohatchi worked at the scene. Police issued an update at 2:25 a.m. saying that the lane had been reopened.
