ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was fatally injured Wednesday morning due a wreck involving a motorcycle and an SUV in northeast Albuquerque, reports KRQE.

Albuquerque Police responded to the scene near 2nd Street Northwest and San Lorenzo Avenue Northwest, in the city’s Greater Gardner neighborhood. Dispatchers first received the call shortly after 7:00 a.m.

According to the APD, the victim was operating a motorcycle without its front headlight illuminated and at a high rate of speed. At one point, the bike was struck by a driver in an SUV who was turning into a nearby business.

First responders rushed the rider to a local hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.

It was unclear whether the other driver was hurt. No charges have been filed as of this writing.
