VALENCIA COUNTY, NM — A 58-year-old man from Colorado died early Wednesday after a motorcycle crash involving another vehicle in Los Lunas, according to KOB4.

The fatal accident occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 at mile marker 202. New Mexico State Police responded to the scene at around 5:30 a.m.

An early investigation shows the man was riding on a motorcycle that was hit from the back by a passenger car. The impact of the crash sent the bike crashing.

The rider, a resident of Palisade, Colorado, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.

A section of southbound I-25 was closed at Isleta Pueblo at around 6:00 a.m., but reopened to the public at about 8:15 a.m.

Investigators said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the wreck. An investigation by NMSP remains ongoing, and no charges have been reported as of this writing.
