Motorcyclist, 67, dies after single-vehicle crash in Clovis

CLOVIS, NM – Police in Clovis are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Friday, Oct. 10, according to the Eastern New Mexico News.

The single-vehicle accident happened near the intersection of Grand Street and Gidding Street at about 1 p.m. Police arrived to find the motorcycle rider in the street. He was pronounced dead after being taken to Plains Regional Medical Center.

The victim was identified as 67-year-old Johnny Roberts. The Clovis Police Department Crash Team is trying to determine what caused the wreck.

Commercial vehicle accident blocks U.S. 64 in both directions near Taos

TAOS, NM – An accident involving a commercial vehicle shut down a stretch of U.S. 64 near Taos on Tuesday afternoon.

The Taos News reported the highway was shut down in both directions after the crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m. No injuries were reported, but crews were called in to clean up a slick substance that spilled onto the roadway. The road was reopened about 90 minutes later.

Another wreck, involving an overturned commercial vehicle, occurred earlier that day on New Mexico 68 near Embudo. The highway was blocked to traffic in both directions until the scene could be cleared.

Crash reported along Interstate 40 west of Grants

GRANTS, NM – Traffic was disrupted along a portion of Interstate 40 on Thursday afternoon due to a crash.

An advisory on NMRoads at 2:31 p.m. stated that the incident took place on I-40 at mile marker 61 west of Grants. The westbound right lane of the interstate was closed while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Motorists were advised to drive with caution, reduce speed, and obey all posted signs.
