
ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was fatally hurt Tuesday night when they were hit by a pickup truck while driving a moped in east Albuquerque, reports KOB4.
The incident occurred on the eastbound lanes near Eubank Boulevard, in the South Los Altos neighborhood. Albuquerque Police responded to the scene at about 8:00 p.m.
According to the APD, the victim and one other person were both driving mopeds eastbound without functioning lights. At one point, the victim was hit by a driver in a white Ford pickup truck that was also traveling eastbound.
The victim, who was pushed a “significant distance” by the vehicle, later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
Authorities said officers were later able to find the second moped driver, but the driver of the Ford had fled the site.
At this time, no information regarding pending charges has been shared.
