Man suspected of stealing, crashing ambulance in Ruidoso

LINCOLN COUNTY, NM — A man was arrested Monday night for allegedly stealing and crashing an ambulance from a hospital in Ruidoso, reports KOAT.

According to police, the ambulance had been taken from Lincoln County Medical Center and was later found crashed against a tree about a mile away.

Authorities learned the man had been a been brought to the hospital for causing a public disturbance while drunk. Shortly after the man was released, the ambulance was reported missing from the emergency room bay.

Not long after the vehicle was recovered, police were able to locate and apprehend the suspect, who had been seen walking into traffic lanes on Highway 70.
