Man sentenced for Albuquerque DWI crash that left 1 dead, 1 injured

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A man will be going to prison for a fatal drunk driving accident in Albuquerque in 2024, according to KRQE.

Jesus Sandoval-Martinez of Albuquerque was sentenced last week to 15 years behind bars. Authorities said Sandoval-Martinez was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup truck north at a high rate of speed on Coors Boulevard when he went through a red light. The pickup crashed into a Tesla and a Toyota Corolla that were going west on Montano Road, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured.

Sandoval-Martinez ran from the scene but was chased down and apprehended, authorities said. Tests showed his blood alcohol level remained over the legal limit four hours after the crash. He was arrested on multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle DWI, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Rollover accident shuts down ramp to Paseo del Norte

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a rollover crash in Albuquerque on Saturday afternoon.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert at 1:52 p.m. regarding the wreck in the area of Paseo del Norte Boulevard westbound and 2nd Street. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The on-ramp to Paseo del Norte was closed for the emergency response, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.

Lane blocked on I-25 northbound due to crash

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Traffic was jammed along a stretch of Interstate 25 Friday afternoon due to a crash, according to NMRoads.

A notification at 3:10 p.m. stated that the accident happened on I-25 northbound at mile marker 225 in the area of Lomas Boulevard.

The right lane of the Interstate was closed. Drivers were urged to proceed with caution and expect delays.
