CLOVIS, NM – Officials in Clovis released details of a fatal collision involving an electric bicycle that occurred Oct. 18.
Police were notified of a crash with injuries at the intersection of Thornton Street and Llano Estacado Boulevard at about 3:45 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that 31-year-old Manuel Moreno was riding an electric bicycle when he entered the intersection on the north side of the roadway. He crashed into a 2021 GMC pickup truck that was traveling south on Thornton Street through a green traffic light.
Moreno was ejected from the bike and taken to Plains Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Clovis Police and Clovis Fire Department – Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
HATCH, NM – Traffic was disrupted for drivers on a stretch of Interstate 25 during Monday morning’s rush hour to a crash.
According to a post on NMRoads at 7:16 a.m., the accident involved a commercial motor vehicle and occurred on I-25 northbound. The right driving lane of the interstate was closed from mile marker 52 in Derry to mile marker 53, 12 miles north of Hatch while the wreck was being cleared.
MORIARY, NM – Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle wreck in Moriarty on Thursday morning, KOAT reported.
The Moriarty Fire Department initially was dispatched to a semi-truck fire on I-40 westbound around mile marker 195. They learned that three semi-trucks and and three vehicles had been involved in a crash.
Four people were injured and taken to area hospitals. No details were released on the extent of their injuries. The Torrance County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident, which shut down the westbound lanes of I-40 in the area.
