Man pleads guilty to deadly DWI crash in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM – According to KRQE, a man was sentenced for a deadly DWI crash that claimed the lives of two people near Spruce Ave and N Virginia St on Dec. 22. 2022.

Nicholas Gurrola, 33, was driving a Dodge Caravan when he drove into oncoming traffic at over 75 mph and slammed head-on into a Ford Escape.

Remy Sigala and Endina Jo Lara died in the collision. Krysta Rae Lara was seriously injured.

Authorities determined Gurrola was driving with a BAC nearly twice the legal limit and did not have proof of insurance.

A judge sentenced Gurrola to 19 years in prison. Four years were suspended so that he will spend 15 years in prison.

1 dead following deadly crash on US 285 near Dexter

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – One person is dead following a fatal wreck near U.S. Highway 285 and East Darby Road on Sunday, according to KOAT.

A 32-year-old driver was heading north on US 285 when they slammed into a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old as the 16-year-old was trying to cross the road from a stop sign around 6:45 p.m.

First responders extricated the 16-year-old and their passenger, Angela Andrews, 18, from their vehicle. The two were taken to an area hospital, where Andrews died.

Rescue crews transported three people from the other vehicle to the hospital. This included the driver, a 33-year-old passenger, and a 5-year-old. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

Wreck reported near Parkway

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KKOB Traffic, a crash was reported at I-40 WB and Unser Blvd NW on Wednesday.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the collision.
