Man pleads guilty for crash that killed 10-year-old girl near Jack and Jill Park

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, a man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to a fatal crash at San Pedro Dr SE and Bell Ave SE on March 27, 2023, that killed a 10-year-old girl.

John Bearden Jr. stole a maroon Chevy SUV with New Mexico Government plates from the State Fairgrounds. He was driving east on Bell Ave at excessive speeds when he ran a stop sign at San Pedro Dr SE and slammed into a gray Jeep SUV operated by a 43-year-old with a 10-year-old passenger.

Rescue crews transported the Jeep driver and his 10-year-old passenger to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where the 10-year-old girl died 20 days later.

Authorities charged Bearden with unlawful taking of a vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash involving serious physical injury, and great bodily harm by vehicle (driving while intoxicated).

Bearden has pleaded guilty to these charges and faces up to 27 years in prison.

Deputies respond to wreck in South Valley

SOUTH VALLEY, NM – First responders were called to the scene of an accident at Coors Blvd SW and Blake Rd SW on Thursday, according to BCSO.

Dispatchers received calls concerning the incident around 5:21 p.m.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Auto accident reported near Stardust Skies North

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to APD Traffic, a traffic accident was reported at Montgomery Blvd NE and Pennsylvania St NE on Wednesday.

The incident happened around 5:43 p.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the collision.
