Man killed when motorcycle collides with car at Roswell intersection

ROSWELL, NM – The Roswell Police Department is investigating a collision that killed a motorcyclist last Friday night.

In a Facebook post, the police department said the fatal wreck happened at the intersection of North Main Street and Blue Mountain Road in north Roswell at about 7:50 p.m.

Initial information indicated that a motorcyclist was heading north on Main Street at a high rate of speed when the bike clipped the rear of a car that had exited a parking lot on the east side of Main Street. The car was crossing the northbound lanes of Main Street and was entering the southbound lanes.

The impact caused the car to spin and the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike, which kept going and struck a second car.

The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Xavier Lujan of Roswell, was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the two cars hit by the motorcycle were not hurt.

Main Street was shut down in the area for about seven hours while the crash was being cleared and investigated.

Crash causes closure on Interstate 40 at Juan Tabo Boulevard

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An accident disrupted traffic along a stretch of Interstate 40 in Albuquerque on Tuesday afternoon.

According to an advisory from NMRoads shortly after 3:30 p.m., the crash occurred on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 166, near Juan Tabo Boulevard.

The right lane of the interstate was closed while crews worked the scene. Drivers were advised to use caution in the area.

Lanes shut down on Highway 128 in Lea County due to accident

LEA COUNTY, NM – The Lea County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert on Tuesday morning due to a crash on Highway 128.

According to the notification at 7:46 a.m., deputies reported the accident happeend at mile marker 48 on the highway. The eastbound lanes were shut down as a result of the incident.

Drivers were urged to slow down, seek alternate routes, and watch for any emergency vehicles or personnel on the roadway.
