Man hit, hurt by driver while selling water off I-25 in NE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man was seriously injured Tuesday night in a pedestrian crash on an Interstate 25 offramp near northeast Albuquerque, reports KRQE.

Albuquerque Police were called to the scene on the ramp from I-25 southbound to Pan American Freeway Northeast and Montaño Road Northeast. The incident was first reported by KRQE at 10:09 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man had been selling water along the road. He was walking into a travel lane to retrieve money when he was struck by a driver who said they did not see the pedestrian.

Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital with major head trauma.

The driver stayed after the crash and cooperated with an investigation.

No further information has been disclosed.
