ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A man is facing charges in connection with an accident that claimed the life of a nurse at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque last month, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
43-year-old Brian Boyce was initially charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in death in the Oct. 9 incident. He was indicted and rearrested on Tuesday on a charge of vehicular homicide.
Authorities said Boyce was driving at high speed on Lomas Boulevard when he struck and killed 28-year-old Alec Montoya, a pediatric emergency room nurse who was trying to cross the street outside the hospital. Boyce was seen on surveillance video stopping and getting out of the vehicle, but after going to the hospital for minor injuries, he allegedly left the builidng on foot. He was arrested at his home that night.
The new grand jury indictment came after police said they found there was an open container of alcohol in Boyce’s vehicle.
MORIARTY, NM – Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash in the Moriarty area on Wednesday afternoon.
According to an advisory on NMRoads at 3:36 p.m., the accident happened on New Mexico 41. The highway was closed in both directions, from mile marker 26 to mile marker 27.
Drivers were notified to expect traffic delays and use caution while traveling through the area.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An accident was reported to be impacting traffic in southwest Albuquerque on Wednesday night.
In a traffic alert posted at 9:38 p.m., the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the crash site in the area of Isleta Boulevard SW and Rio Bravo Boulevard SW. All southbound lanes of travel on Isleta Boulevard were closed while the wreck was being cleared.
The sheriff’s office advised motorists to use caution in the area. All lanes were back open about an hour later.
