EDDY COUNTY, NM — A 27-year-old man died Wednesday, July 19, after a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 62/180 near Carlsbad, according to NewsWest9.
Eddy County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene on the eastbound side of US-62/180, near milepost 47, north of Landfill Road.
Preliminary details show the man was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound when it struck the center median. As the male driver attempted to get the SUV back onto the roadway, the vehicle overcorrected and rolled in a clockwise motion.
Officials said the victim, who was ejected from the SUV during the rollover, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other occupants or vehicles appear to have been involved.
An investigation into the cause of the accident remains in progress. As more information is released to the public, this blog will be updated.
