ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Property damage was reported Friday morning after a pickup truck slammed into an apartment in east Albuquerque, according to KRQE.
Albuquerque Police said the incident occurred at the La Mariana apartment complex off the corner of Lead Avenue and Sierra Drive Southeast, in the Nob Hill area. Officers responded to the scene shortly before 10:00 a.m.
Witnesses said a pickup truck collided with a lower-level apartment on the complex’s east side after its driver tried to avoid a crash with another car. Images captured at the scene shows the pickup at rest near the wreckage of the apartment, where the structure’s support beams were left exposed.
According to authorities, the apartment was unoccupied at the time of the wreck and no one in the nearby units were hurt, but the pickup driver appeared to suffer some injuries.
An occupant of the neighboring unit said she saw a blue sedan leave the scene without visible damage.
The building, which lost power as a result of the accident, will undergo a structural evaluation.
