Man charged with DWI following collision in NW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A collision in northwest Albuquerque was blamed on an alleged drunk driver, according to KOB.

The suspect, identified as James Poncho, was arrested in connection with the crash at Unser Boulevard and Los Volcanes Road. Police said he was driving a Dodge Charger when he went through a red light and collided with a semi-truck making a turn at the intersection.

Poncho was charged with DWI after authorities found his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. No details were released regarding any injuries resulting from the wreck.

Accident shuts down Interstate 25 offramp at Jefferson Street

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An accident slowed traffic for drivers in a portion of Albuquerque during Wednesday evening’s commute.

An advisory from NMRoads shortly before 5 p.m. said that the crash occurred on Interstate 25 southbound at mile marker 229. The I-25 southbound off-ramp was closed at Jefferson Street while emergency crews cleared the wreck.

Drivers were advised to expect delays when traveling through the area.

BCSO deputies respond to crash on East Pueblo Road

NORTH VALLEY, NM – Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of a crash in the North Valley on Wednesday night.

The BCSO issued a traffic alert regarding the incident at 7:11 p.m. The accident prompted the closure of eastbound E. Pueblo Road NW at 2nd Street NW.

No major injuries were reported, the sheriff’s office said.
