Man charged in hit-and-run that killed pedestrian in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Albuquerque police said charges have been filed in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in 2024, according to KRQE.

The incident happened in the area of Yale Boulevard and Central Avenue, where police say the driver of a Mercedes went through a red light and struck a pedestrian, Christopher Cordova, who was using the crosswalk. The driver then fled the scene.

KRQE reports that officers responding to a domestic dispute earlier this year learned that a man identified as Isaiah Perez admitted hitting someone with his car, and that phone data from Perez from 2024 linked him to the location. A warrant has now been issued for Perez on charges of homicide by vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.

Fatal crash shuts down I-40 eastbound near Carnuel

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal crash near Carnuel late Friday night.

In an alert posted at 11:06 p.m., the BCSO said that the accident shut down eastbound Interstate 40 for the investigation. Drivers were advised to use New Mexico 333 as an alternate route.

No details were immediately released on who had been killed in the wreck.

Portion of Atrisco Vista Boulevard blocked due to accident

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Drivers were advised of an accident affecting traffic in a section of Albuquerque on Saturday night.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert at 8:14 p.m. stating that the crash closed Atrisco Vista Boulevard between Central Avenue and 224 Atrisco Vista.

No major injuries were reported.
