ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision in northeast Albuquerque on Monday morning, KOB reported.
The incident took place in the area of Carlisle Boulevard and Claremont Avenue at about 7:40 a.m. According to police, a man was riding an e-bicycle to work when he was struck by a vehicle that was heading east on Claremont Avenue and trying to make a left turn at the intersection.
The bicyclist, identified as 47-year-old Robert Montoya, died after being transported to an area hospital. The driver involved left the area, and the vehicle was later found in a parking lot of an extended stay facility,
Police subsequently arrested the suspected driver, 26-year-old Gilbert Nunez-Guzman. He is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence.
ALBUQURQUE, NM – An accident snarled traffic in a section of Albuquerque during Wednesday morning’s rush hour.
An advisory on NMRoads at 7:54 a.m. stated that the crash happened on Interstate 25 northbound at mile marker 225 near the exit for Lomas Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
The right lane of the interstate was closed while the wreck was being cleared, and drivers were advised to expect heavy delays through the area.
RIO RANCHO, NM – Police in Rio Rancho were called to the scene of a crash on New Mexico Highway 528 early Wednesday morning.
According to a post by the Rio Rancho Police Department shortly before 6 a.m., all southbound lanes of NM 528 were closed at High Resort Boulevard for the accident investigation. There was no immediate word regarding any injuries.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible because of heavy delays. The roadway was reopened later in the morning.
