Fatal pedestrian crash closes part of I-40 EB in far west Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A section of eastbound Interstate 40 was blocked late Monday in far west Albuquerque due to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes of I-40 approaching Exit 149 to Atrisco Vista Boulevard, in the West of Westland area. It was first reported by the BCSO at 10:25 p.m.

While the circumstances of the event have not been disclosed, the sheriff’s office confirmed that at least one person died as a result of the crash.

As of this writing, no pending charges have been reported.

Motorcyclist dies following crash on  Main St in Las Cruces

DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — A 42-year-old Arizona man died late Saturday, December 16, after a single-vehicle motorcycle wreck in Las Cruces, according to KVIA.

The fatal accident happened on a stretch of North Main Street near Oban Court. First responders rushed to the scene at around 10:40 p.m.

Las Cruces Police Department officials said that the victim, Jesse Kelly, was operating a motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. While north of Oban Court, his motorcycle hit the center median, ejecting him off the bike and onto the concrete median.

The male rider was rushed to an area hospital but was later pronounced deceased. Officials noted that while the victim was wearing a helmet, speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash.

An investigation remains open and ongoing.


Emergency crews respond to crash on NM-475 in NE Santa Fe

SANTA FE, NM — A vehicle accident was reported Tuesday morning on New Mexico State Road 475 in northeast Santa Fe, according to NM Roads.

The crash impacted a span of NM-475 between mile markers 9 and 10, just north of Hyde Memorial State Park. It was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 10:38 a.m.

Little information has been shared at this time, but at the time of the initial report, emergency crews were on the scene working to clear the roadway.

No significant injuries have been confirmed, and it’s unclear how many vehicles were involved.
