Fatal motorcycle crash shuts down I-25 south of Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motorcycle accident on Interstate 25 last week, according to KOAT.

The wreck happened April 21 in the northbound lanes of I-25 near Broadway Boulevard at about 9 p.m. No information was released regarding the person who had been killed.

The area of I-25 where the crash took place was shut down for about five hours during the accident investigation.

Lane closed on Interstate 40 westbound due to accident

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Drivers were alerted to a crash affecting traffic along a stretch of Interstate 40 in Albuquerque during Thursday morning’s commute.

According to an advisory on NMRoads posted at 7:37 a.m., the incident happened on I-40 westbound at mile marker 159 at the Big I.

The left lane was closed on I-40 west to the northbound ramp for Interstate 25. The New Mexico DOT advised drivers to proceed with caution through the area and expect traffic delays.

Man convicted of deadly drunk driving crash in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A man has been convicted of causing a fatal wreck in Albuquerque, according to a KRQE report.

Edgar Mendoza Silva was found guilty in connection with the crash that occurred in August 2024 on Central Avenue near 47th Street.

Authorities said Silva was driving a Dodge truck at high speed while racing with another truck when he lost control of the vehicle. The Dodge veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle, killing the other driver.

Toxicology reports showed Silva had alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana in his system at the time of the collision. He faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced.
