Farmington woman sentenced for causing motorcycle crash

FARMINGTON, NM – A Farmington woman was sentenced for causing a motorcyclist to crash in September 2024, prosecutors said.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico, 33-yyear-old Tenille Quintawna Peshlakai, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, was sentenced to five years of probation for the incident.

Court records state that Peshlakai argued with the victim at a gas station before driving away. She then turned around, caught up to the victim, and swerved her vehicle to block his path. This forced the victim to lay down his motorcycle and crash into Peshlakai’s vehicle. She fled the scene before law enforcement or medical personnel arrived, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Peshlakai subsequently pled guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.

Accident blocks lane on Interstate 10 in Las Cruces area

LAS CRUCES, NM – A road advisory was posted on NMRoads early Saturday morning following a crash in the Las Cruces area.

The alert at 1:00 a.m. stated that the accident happened on Interstate 10 westbound at mile marker 149, four miles east of Las Cruces.

The passing left lane of the interstate was closed until the roadway could be cleared.

Motorcyclist injured in collision on I-25 in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A motorcyclist was injured in a collision in Albuquerque last week, according to ABQ Raw.

Police and first responders were called to the scene Wednesday afternoon on northbound Interstate 25 near the Lead/Coal exit. A motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a vehicle whose driver reportedly left the scene.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue came to the aid of the motorcyclist, who was reported to be conscious, but no further details were available on the rider’s condition.

The incident resulted in traffic delays on I-25 northbound through the area, as multiple lanes were blocked at Avenida Cesar Chavez.
