Emergency crews called to crash on I-40 WB near Continental Divide

MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM — A vehicle accident was reported Thursday morning on Interstate 40 near northwest Continental Divide, according to NM Roads.

The wreck took place on the westbound side of I-40 at mile marker 44, near the Coolidge Interchange. It was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 10:25 a.m.

Authorities have not shared any information regarding the cause of the crash or the vehicles involved, but the scene remained active until at least 12:30 p.m., more than two hours after the initial report.

Motorists were instructed to slow down and approach the area with extra caution as emergency personnel worked to clear the accident.

No serious injuries have been confirmed as of this writing.
