DWI suspect arrested after two-vehicle wreck in La Puebla

SANTA FE COUNTY, NM — A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for suspected DUI Wednesday after a crash in La Puebla, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision took place on a stretch of La Puebla Road after the young man, an Española resident, was observed operating his vehicle recklessly and at high speeds.

Officials indicated that the suspect’s vehicle struck another car, but no information regarding potential injuries was immediately provided.

Following the crash, a responding officer noted that the driver displayed signs of intoxication at the scene. The suspect was later administered a series of standard field sobriety tests (SFSTs) in which he showed signs of impairment. After refusing to comply to chemical testing, he was arrested without incident.
