DWI suspect arrested after crash on NM-14 near SW Santa Fe

SANTA FE COUNTY, NM — A 62-year-old man was arrested last Thursday, November 16, following a crash on New Mexico State Road 14 near Santa Fe, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision was reported at the intersection with Shenandoah Trail, southwest of the city.

Preliminary details indicate local resident Avelino Gurule crashed his vehicle and was located nearby. Gurule, who consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, displayed intoxication at the scene. He was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center after subsequent chemical testing revealed a result of 0.14g/210L-0.13g/210L.

No major injuries were reported following the wreck, and no other occupants or vehicles appear to have been involved.
