SANTA FE COUNTY, NM — A 48-year-old man was arrested for suspected DUI Sunday on New Mexico State Road 14 near Santa Fe after failing to report a crash, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
SFCSO deputies were initially called to NM-14 at mile marker 40, just south of Calle Galisteo, for a welfare check.
According to officials, deputies observed “fresh damage” to the suspect’s vehicle that was determined to have resulted from a recent and unreported crash.
Investigators said the male driver, identified as Santa Fe resident Charles Galvan, displayed signs of impairment during questioning. He was taken into custody to be transported and booked into jail.
Galvan faces charges of “Driving While Intoxicated,” “Careless Driving,” and “Failure to Give Immediate Noticed of a Crash.”
The SFCSO has not confirmed where the crash occurred or whether another vehicle and other parties may have been involved.
No injuries were immediately reported, and no other information has been released.
