Driver sought in South Valley hit-and-run involving bicyclist

SOUTH VALLEY, NM – Authorities are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident in South Valley last week.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said its Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives are seeking the public’s help for information in the crash, which involved a bicyclist.

Deputies responded to the collision Sept. 24 at about 9:10 p.m. The BCSO said the driver involved fled eastbound from Arenal Road SW and Ramirez Road SW. The vehicle was described as a single cab pickup truck with possible front-end damage. No details were released on the condition of the bicyclist.

Accident shuts down lane on U.S. 70 west near Hacienda Acres

HACIENDA ACRES, NM – An accident impacted traffic for drivers along a stretch of U.S. 70 west on Monday morning.

An advisory by NMRoads at 8:29 a.m. stated that the incident occurred at mile marker 157 of the highway, one mile east of Hacienda Acres.

The left passing lane of U.S. 70 was shut down while crews worked the scene of the crash.

Driver attempting to flee from police crashes in Farmington

FARMINGTON, NM – A driver fleeing from police was involved in a wreck in Farmington on Friday night, KOAT reported.

Police said officers attempted a traffic stop on two street racing drivers in the area of 20th Street and Knudsen Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. One of the drivers took off, but struck a car in front of a grocery store, went off the road, struck a parked vehicle and caught fire.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle that fled were taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center, and charges were pending against the driver, whose name was not released. The driver of the other racing vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Kalynn Kenworth, was charged with racing on highways.
