UPPER FRUITLAND, NM – The Navajo Police Department is trying to track down the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian earlier this month.
In a Facebook post, police said the incident occurred between Nov. 7 and Nov. 10. The pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle on Navajo Route 36 at mile post 26 in Upper Fruitland. The driver then left the scene.
Police said the vehicle they are looking for is believed to be a maroon/red 2014-2016 GMC Canyon. The vehicle should have heavy damage to the front passenger side headlight, bumper cover, and possibly the fender. Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run was asked to contact the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigation Shiprock Office or the Navajo Police Department Shiprock District.
TUCUMCARI, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash was causing traffic delays on a portion of Interstate 40 Tuesday afternoon.
An advisory at 12:14 p.m. stated that the accident happened on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 312, 16 miles west of Tucumcari.
The right lane and right shoulder were closed while the wreck was being removed. Officials said there was no alternate route available.
Motorists were advised to use extreme caution, reduce speed, obey posted signs, and watch for emergency personnel and equipment.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Drivers were alerted to an accident impacting traffic in southwest Albuquerque early Sunday morning.
In an advisory posted at about 1 a.m., the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies were at the scene of the crash at Las Estancias Drive SW and Coors Boulevard SW. There was no word on whether anyone had been injured.
All southbound lanes of Coors Boulevard were closed for the accident response and investigation, but was traffic back to normal within about an hour.
