Driver killed when vehicle crashes into entrance of Clovis park

CLOVIS, NM – A driver was killed and a passenger injured in a pickup truck accident in Clovis last week, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Police, firefighters and EMS crews were dispatched to the scene at 11:49 p.m. Dec. 22, after being notified that a pickup had crashed into the entrance of Hillcrest Park near 10th and Sycamore Streets.

Officers arrived to find that the vehicle had collided with the rock archway structure at the park entrance. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was found unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead after being taken to Plains Regional Medical Center. The passenger, a 32-year-old man, was trapped in the vehicle and extricated by Clovis Fire Department personnel. He was taken first to Plains Regional and then was transferred to a hospital in Texas for further treatment.

Police said alcohol was found in the vehicle and was believed to a possible contributing factor in the fatal crash, which remains under investigation.

Crash shuts down NM 518 in both directions near Mora

MORA, NM – A crash was reported to be blocking traffic in a portion of Mora County on Saturday night.

According to an advisory from NMRoads at 7:26 p.m., the accident occurred on New Mexico 518 at mile marker 28, one mile south of Mora.

The roadway was closed in both directions while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Multiple lane closures reported due to accident in SE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert due to an accident in southeast Albuquerque on Saturday afternoon.

The advisory at 3:12 p.m. stated that deputies were at the scene of the wreck at Rio Bravo Boulevard SE and Broadway Boulevard SE. The incident caused multiple lane closures eastbound as well as both turn bays on Broadway to eastbound Rio Bravo.

Drivers were advised to use caution in the area while the roadway was being cleared.
