ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man was hospitalized with critical injuries late Sunday after a major rollover crash in northeast Albuquerque, reports KOAT.
A release from the Albuquerque Police Department indicates the wreck occurred at the Embudito Arroyo, off the intersection of Jane Place Northeast and Candelaria Road Northeast.
Preliminary details show the man was driving when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to strike a median, overturn, and go over a guardrail. After falling off the bridge, the vehicle came to rest on its roof in the arroyo. Authorities said the male driver and sole occupant, who was ejected during the rollover, was left seriously hurt.
First responders rushed the victim to an area hospital in critical condition.
While debris from the wrecked vehicle hit the back window of another vehicle, no one else was reported injured.
The APD’s fatal crash unit was dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation. Although speed is said to be a factor, officials say that due to the driver’s injuries, they are unable to determine whether impairment contributed to the accident.
