Driver dies in rollover accident near intersection in Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, NM – A car crash in Rio Rancho last week left a driver dead, according to the Rio Rancho Observer.

The incident happened Oct. 14 in the vicinity of 29th Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard. A preliminary investigation by Rio Rancho police found that the driver, identified as 29-year-old Daniel Ponce De Leon, went off the roadway at about 4:30 a.m.

The vehicle rolled multiple times, came to rest and caught fire. De Leon suffered fatal injuries. No other vehicles were involved. The investigation is continuing into the cause of the wreck.

State Police investigate fatal crash on Interstate 25

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A fatal accident shut down a portion of Interstate 25 in Albuquerque on Saturday afternoon, KOB reported.

The crash occurred on I-25 southbound near the exit for Lead/Coal Avenues shortly after 12 p.m.. No details were immediately released on who had been killed.

New Mexico State Police responded to the scene for the investigation. Traffic on the interstate was diverted for hours at mile marker 225 until southbound I-25 reopened later in the afternoon.

CMV accident shuts down lane on I-10 west of Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM – The New Mexico Department of Transportation reported an accident involving a commercial motor vehicle early Tuesday morning.

According to an advisory on NMRoads at 4:48 a.m., a CMV rollover occurred on Interstate 10 westbound at mile marker 112, 23 miles west of Las Cruces.

The left passing lane of I-10 was closed in the area while emergency crews cleared the roadway.
