ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A 23-year-old woman has been charged following a crash early Monday in southeast Albuquerque that killed a bicyclist, according to KRQE.
Albuquerque Police said the fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Gibson Boulevard and Yale Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Preliminary details show the woman was driving a pickup truck westbound when the vehicle collided with the bicyclist, who was also traveling in the middle westbound lane.
The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
APD officials said driver inattention and impairment contributed to the fatal crash. The suspect has since been charged with “vehicular homicide DWI” and “leaving the scene of an accident – causing great bodily harm or death.”
