Crews respond to vehicle fire on NM-146 NB in Grant County

GRANT COUNTY, NM — Emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon on New Mexico State Road 146 near Hachita, reports the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

The event had the northbound lanes between milepost 16 and New Mexico State Road 9 shut down. Dispatchers first received the call shortly before 12:42 a.m.

While the circumstances of the fire remain unclear, traffic delays were expected. Drivers were urged to reduce speed and watch for first responders in the area.


Authorities have not said what caused the fire or indicated any injuries.
