Collision reduces I-40 WB to single lane in far east Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Deputies responded to a vehicle crash Friday morning on Interstate 40 in far east Albuquerque, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident impacted the westbound interstate at mile marker 170, in an area east of New Mexico State Road 333, near Carnuel. Officials with the BCSO arrived on the scene shortly before 10:38 a.m.

Few details have been shared at this time, but all westbound traffic was forced to get by through a single open lane.

By 11:43 a.m., more than an hour later, crews had cleared the scene from the roadway and all lanes of I-40 were reopened.


The sheriff’s office has not reported any injuries as of this writing.
