Clovis police vehicle struck after driver runs red light

CLOVIS, NM – A Clovis police car was struck by another vehicle at an intersection on Monday afternoon, the Eastern New Mexico News reports.

Police said the incident took place as Officer Jerry Arrellano was transporting a person to the local jail. As the officer proceeded through North Prince Street and 21st Street with a green light, a driver went through a red light and crashed into the patrol car.

The officer was not injured in the collision. The person in the patrol car, who had been arrested for shoplifting, was treated for soreness.

The man driving the other vehicle fled on foot after parking in a nearby parking lot. Police identified him and were trying to obtain an arrest warrant, saying he may have been driving with a suspended or revoked license.

BCSO responds to accident on Paseo del Norte over river

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert after a crash occurred in Albuquerque Saturday night.

The advisory at 8:20 p.m. stated that BCSO deputies were dispatched to the scene on Paseo del Norte over the Rio Grande River. The number 2 and 3 lanes of westbound traffic were shut down during the accident response and investigation.

Drivers were advised to use caution when traveling through the area. All lanes were reported reopened at 10:56 p.m.

Crash prompts lane closures in southwest Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A crash caused several road closures in southwest Albuquerque on Tuesday night.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office advised motorists of the incident at 7:14 p.m. It happened in the area of Bridge Boulevard SW and Old Coors Drive SW. The BCSO reported that the closures included the number 1 lane bridge eastbound, the turning lane on Bridge Boulevard turning westbound to Old Coors, and the number 1 and 2 southbound lanes onto Old Coors.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes until the lanes could be reopened. There were no reports of injuries.
