Child injured, driver arrested following DWI crash in De Baca County

DE BACA COUNTY, NM – According to KRQE, an 8-year-old child was hurt, and a driver was arrested following a DWI crash on I-40 near mile marker 271 on Friday.

Margarita Bautista, 48, was allegedly driving recklessly when she had a rollover crash around 1:15 p.m.

Rescue crews transported the 8-year-old to an area hospital. Their current condition is unknown.

NMSP officers smelled alcohol on Bautista and performed sobriety tests on her. Bautista failed the tests.

Officers arrested Bautista and charged her with DWI, DWI with a minor in the vehicle, and abuse of a child resulting in great bodily harm.

Police investigate deadly 2-vehicle crash near Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, NM – The Rio Ranch Police Department is investigating a fatal two-car collision that occurred at S 550 and NW Loop on Thursday, according to KOB.

The two vehicles collided when one attempted to turn left onto US 550.

Two people from the car on US 550 died in the wreck.

Rescue crews transported three other people to an area hospital in stable condition. It is unclear which vehicle they were in.

Officials have not released the victims’ names.

Wreck reported on US 491 near Sheep Springs

SHEEP SPRINGS, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash was reported on US 491 SB, one mile south of Sheep Springs, on Friday.

The incident was reported around 11:21 a.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the collision.
