SANDOVAL COUNTY, NM — A driver struck down a light pole Wednesday morning on Northern Boulevard Northeast in north Rio Rancho, reports Rio Rancho Observer.

The accident happened at the intersection with 35th Street Northeast, or Walpi Court Northeast, in the city’s Del Norte Center neighborhood. It was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, but the striking car and its female driver were found about 100 yards from the impacted pole.

No injuries have been confirmed, but the crash tore the pole from its base, blocking part of the roadway and leaving debris strewn in the area. Front-end damage was also observed on the vehicle.

Both Rio Rancho Police and Rio Rancho Fire crews responded to the scene.

No other information has been made available at this time.
