Bicyclist injured after being struck by vehicle near Interstate 25

SANTA FE, NM – A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Fe on Friday night, the Santa Fe New Mexican reports.

The incident occurred near the Interstate 25 exit for St Francis Drive. The bicycle rider told responding police officers he had been struck from behind and was thrown from his bike and into the highway guardrail.

The man was transported to an area hospital to be treated for a broken leg and hip. Police later arrested the suspected driver of the vehicle that hit him, 24-year-old Jorge Suarez-Huerta of Hernandez. He faces multiple charges including aggravated drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving resulting in great bodily injury.

Police said officers had attempted to pull over Suarez-Huerta for a traffic stop but he took off at a high rate of speed and struck the bicyclist as he was riding on the shoulder of I-25.

Accident shuts down lane and shoulder of interstate in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, NM – A traffic accident disrupted traffic along a portion of Interstate 25 on Monday afternoon.

According to a post on NMRoads at 3:55 p.m., the crash occurred on I-25 northbound at mile marker 231 in San Antonio. The left lane and left shoulder were shut down while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Drivers were advised to slow down and use caution while traveling through the area.

Stretch of I-40 closed near Rio Grande due to crash

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A stretch of Interstate 40 in Albuquerque was blocked to traffic on Tuesday morning due to a crash, according to NMRoads.

The incident, reported at 9:47 a.m., took place on I-40 eastbound at the Rio Grande River bridge, at mile marker 156. The two left lanes of the interstate were closed while the wreck was being cleared.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes and expect traffic delays.
