BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — At least one person died early Sunday after a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 40 near east Tijeras, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal accident occurred on the westbound lanes approaching the exit to Sedillo Hill Road (New Mexico State Road 306). It was first reported by the BCSO at 2:55 a.m.
Details remain limited at this time, but preliminary details show a semi-truck and another vehicle collided.
Bernalillo County deputies had a section of the westbound interstate shut down during an initial investigation. All westbound traffic was forced to divert.

As of this writing, authorities have not confirmed the number of people killed or reported any other serious injuries.
