BCSO called to collision on I-40 EB at NM-333 in far west Albuquerque

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — A vehicle wreck early Thursday kept all of eastbound Interstate 40 closed for hours near Carnuel, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene on the eastbound lanes approaching Exit 170 to New Mexico State Road 333. It was first reported by the BCSO at 12:04 a.m.

While the sheriff’s office has not released a sequence of events leading up to the crash, no major injuries were immediately reported.

The eastbound interstate remained blocked for more than two and a half hours. By 2:41 a.m., the scene had been cleared from the roadway and all lanes were reported reopened.
