Authorities release video of deadly hit-and-run near Academy Hills Park

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, authorities released a video Tuesday of a fatal hit-and-run allegedly committed by a group of teens near Academy Road Northeast and Moon Street Northeast on May 29, 2024.

The video shows that an 11-year-old, a 13-year-old, and a 15-year-old were in a stolen car that hit Scott Habermehl, 63, as he was riding a bicycle to work at Sandia National Labs at around 5 a.m. The three were said to have been laughing about the collision after they hit Habermehl, who died from his injuries.

Authorities charged the 13-year-old with murder on Monday. The 15-year-old is also charged with murder, but authorities have not yet located him. The 11-year-old is too young to be charged with murder, and prosecutors are working to determine what they can charge him with.

Emergency crews respond to crash on US 84 in Santa Fe

SANTA FE, NM – First responders were called to the scene of an accident on US 84 Northbound at mile maker 166 on Wednesday, according to NMRoads.

Dispatchers received calls concerning the incident around 11:23 a.m.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Auto accident disrupts traffic near Loop Industrial District

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to NMRoads, a wreck blocked traffic on New Mexico 423 Eastbound at mile marker 5 on Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 1:16 p.m.

Officials have not released additional details.
